Heat Recovery Steam Generators

Introduction

The hot gases from the gas turbine exhaust are routed into boilers called Heat Recovery Steam Generators, HRSGs, of which there are two. As the name suggests, HRSGs extract the heat that would otherwise be lost to the atmosphere. Pure water, which circulates through interconnecting pipework modules, is heated, converted to steam and piped at various pressures to drive the steam turbine.
