Raw Water Pre-Treatment Area

Suspended solids are removed from the intake water before entering the clarified water basin, which acts as a storage reservoir for the cooling tower basins. Chemicals are dosed to the intake water to promote effective flocculation and clarification and to protect the clarified water and pipework systems.

Large particulates removed from the water in the clarifier collect in the hopper at the bottom of the clarifier to form a sludge. This sludge is removed by the sludge extraction system.
