The cooled water falls to the bottom of the cell and is collected in the tower basin as cold water ready to be re-circulated by the main circulating pumps.
Make-up water needed to replenish tower losses due to evaporation, drift and blowdown is supplied to the basin from the make-up pumping system. The design figure for cooling water required from the intake basin is 642 m3/hr.
