The external view

No combustion takes place in the Heat Recovery Steam Generator. Instead, it extracts the heat contained in the exhaust from the Gas Turbine which would otherwise be lost to the air. Pure water circulating through interconnecting pipework modules is heated by the exhaust gas, converted to steam and piped at pressure to the Steam Turbine.
